NEETHAN SHAN

Neethan Shan was elected City Councillor for Scarborough-Rouge Park in September 2025.

As your City Councillor, Neethan is dedicated to making City Hall listen to Scarborough and getting the city services we need. In a short time since being elected, Neethan launched the new Rouge Valley Community Recreation Centre, a 94,000 square foot centre for recreation, day care, and activities for families across the ward. He made contact with every neighbourhood in the ward through his community forums in Highland Creek, Malvern, West Rouge, West Hill, Guildwood, Centennial, and Morningside Heights.

Neethan has a long history of working for Scarborough communities. As a youth worker in Malvern, he was dedicated to increasing programs and opportunities for young people. This dedication inspired his work as a school board trustee and as Chair of the Toronto District School Board. When he was City Councillor for Scarborough-Rouge River, he pushed for the Scarborough subway extension, brought more facilities for the Rouge Valley Community Recreation Centre, and delivered local jobs to Scarborough.

As your City Councillor today, Neethan is the Mayor’s Designate at the Toronto Hydro Corporation Board of Directors. He is also a member of the City’s Executive Committee, Economic and Community Development Committee, Scarborough Community Council, the Board of Management of the Toronto Zoo, and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.

Neethan and his wife Thadsha live in Morningside Heights where they are raising their two boys.
