The Office of Councillor Neethan Shan is excited to share a new opportunity that will help showcase Scarborough’s incredible food scene while supporting local businesses, artists, and community organizations.

Through the work of Councillor Shan and funding from the City of Toronto, the Destination Scarborough Activation Program will provide up to 11 grants of $10,000 to eligible Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), Chambers of Commerce, and Scarborough-based not-for-profit organizations to bring creative projects to life that celebrate our diverse culinary landscape.

Whether through cultural events, public art, creative marketing campaigns, neighbourhood beautification, or community programming, these activations will encourage residents and visitors to explore Scarborough’s local restaurants and the vibrant communities behind them. By bringing together food, arts, and culture, this program is an investment in the people, businesses, and neighbourhoods that make Scarborough so unique.

At least 20% of each project budget will directly support artists and creative professionals, creating new opportunities for collaboration between our local arts community and businesses. Scarborough Arts will be available to help applicants connect with artists throughout the project development process, with additional support from Eat More Scarborough.
