My message on February 21st, even though it is the same as every year, it is important to repeat and remind ourselves.
International Mother Language Day today.. remembering those who sacrificed their lives to protect their mother language in Bangladesh.. I am also remembering those who died to protect Tamil language in Tamil Nadu.. and in Tamil Eelam.. and all others who died for the freedom to speak and serve in their mother languages around the world.. Thanks Bangladesh for forming the inspirational foundation for this day! நண்பர்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் எனது இனிய உலகத் தாய்மொழி நாள் வாழ்த்துகள்!
Let’s stand firmly in solidarity with all the Indigenous Peoples both of this land and of countries around the world as they continue their strong efforts to protect and preserve their languages, despite the constraints placed by the ongoing colonial oppression.
