Support the Official Proclamation of July as Caribbean Heritage Month in Toronto

Councillor Neethan Shan is bringing forward a motion to officially recognize July as Caribbean Heritage Month in the City of Toronto, a celebration of the history, culture, and contributions of Caribbean communities that have helped shape our city.

More than 315,000 Torontonians of Caribbean heritage contribute to Toronto’s economic, social, political, and cultural life. From generations of community builders and entrepreneurs to artists, essential workers, and leaders, Caribbean communities have played a vital role in defining Toronto’s identity.

Recognizing Caribbean Heritage Month would honour these contributions, celebrate Caribbean history and culture, and create opportunities for future generations to learn and connect.
