Through collective efforts and collaboration with the Nepali Canadian community, we secured the proclamation of Nepali Heritage Week in Toronto. Building on that momentum, I have introduced a motion to proclaim April as Nepali Heritage Month, recognizing the rich histories, languages, arts, and traditions of the Nepali community, as well as the vital contributions Nepali Canadians make to our city and across Canada.
I’m proud to announce that my motion, Proclaiming April as Nepali Heritage Month (MM 40.8), was carried and that the item was adopted by City Council. Thank you to Councillor Amber Morley for seconding the motion, as well as the individuals, organizations and City Councillors who expressed their support.
