Good afternoon,

I hope this weekend provides you with some much-needed rest and some recreation too.

In this issue, you will find information about our community events and updates on local city services.

I hope you can attend our events this week and the upcoming Community Safety Townhall with Mayor Chow.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

COMMUNITY FORUMS UPDATE

I’ve held community forums in Malvern, Highland Creek, West Rouge, West Hill, Centennial, and Morningside Heights. Thank you to all the residents that attended and voiced their concerns and solutions on neighbourhood matters. I will be taking your input to City Hall, and I also look forward to connecting with you in the coming months.

EVENTS

Supporting Jamaica hurricane relief efforts

We want to support the people of Jamaica as they recover from the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. If you’re able, please consider donating to help with the recovery efforts. Cash donations go furthest and fastest, but essential items like water, food, medical and hygiene supplies are also being accepted.

Expanding Cricket in Scarborough

Attention all cricket lovers. I am organizing a roundtable with cricket associations to discuss how we can expand cricket in Scarborough and across the City. It’s a chance to look back at a strong 2025 season and plan for an even better 2026.

If you’re a coach, organizer, association leader, or someone working to grow the sport, I welcome you to join the conversation. Please reach out to me for details: Councillor_Shan@toronto.ca

Scarborough Council

  • We are moving forward with exploring traffic calming measures on several streets in our ward, including Nightstar Road, and Rouge River Drive.

  • We are advancing on safety improvements on Homestead Road.

  • Plans for road safety improvements in Malvern are progressing.

  • Road resurfacing is planned on Morningside Avenue from Tams Road/Pan Am Drive to the Highway 401 Eastbound Ramp in 2026. As part of this work, a new sidewalk will be installed.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Highland Creek Festival of Lights & Community Food Drive

Happy to have participated in the Highland Creek Festival of Lights & Community Food Drive to help support residents in Scarborough.

Charlottetown Winter Fair

I was happy to attend the Winter Fair at Charlottetown Jr Public school. We were joined by hundreds of people from the community who participated in this popular annual event.

Tree Lighting Party

It was wonderful to join the community at the annual Tree Lighting at the Port Union Community Centre, hosted by Jill’s Team. Events like this bring neighbours together and spark the holiday spirit across our ward.
